Here people who value nature can enjoy it, either through a walk through the ravine, contemplating its biodiversity or the calm of the horizon on the classic coastal edge of Chile. The sites do not have boundaries but rather stone pircas that surround the private gardens, to leave natural spaces between sites and minimize the impact of irrigation and plantations.

Las Mostazas corresponds to a ruralization, a low-density ecological lot designed to be inserted in a harmonious and respectful manner with the nature and character of the place. Through a design concept based on sustainability, giving rise to a project that respects nature and allows you to enjoy life outdoors. Therefore, combining the private areas of the lots with 17 hectares of common recreational areas equipped with orchards, vegetation and paths. Here people who value nature can enjoy it, either through a walk through the ravine, contemplating its biodiversity or the calm of the horizon on the coastal edge.

In the Las Mostazas project, special emphasis has been placed on sustainability. The entire lighting system in common areas has a low luminosity to promote the view of the stars. For the houses of Las Mostazas, the use of photovoltaic panels, a garbage recycling system and sustainable irrigation options is recommended. The ruralization has an old orchard, a ravine and a wide pedestrian avenue in front of the beach. A pedestrian circuit has been created, articulated by the equipment, and completed by a series of pedestrian paths between sites, demarcated with stone pircas, which allow easy access to the beach. In order to take care of the view of all the houses towards the sea, the use of green roofs was defined to generate a second plant layer. The boundaries are marked by trails, vegetation and pirca, guiding the user on a free route through the terrain.

Ruralization

The concept of ruralization can be traced back to medieval times in relation to the use of urbanizing practices in the countryside. Although this is not a concept created by Cazú Zegers, the architect has developed an architectural methodology within ruralization, creating spaces that respect balanced development between the natural environment and human intervention. With this execution it is possible to maintain the natural attributes of the territory. It differs from urbanization, which is defined as the action and effect of the set of buildings erected to build and organize a formerly rural land. Ruralization seeks to preserve the rural qualities and the native landscape of the place, generating small interventions so that human beings can inhabit a place in a respectful manner.
