August 2023

Tribute and reflection in the heart of Geneva: Cazú Zegers wins International Competition to build Red Cross memorial. The proposal designed by the Chilean artist and architect was chosen to create a space that pays tribute to the humanitarian organization's staff who have lost their lives in service. The project will be located at the iconic headquarters of the organization and proposes a preservation of the territorial, landscape, and ritual elements that have already been established by the victims' own families.

  • Cazú Zegers presents an individual exhibition that delves into territorial signs and the spiritual value of thresholds
    April 2023

After several years, Cazú Zegers stars in an individual exhibition that delves into her work as an artist and architect. This is “Umbral”, an installation that conceptualizes, artistically and poetically, the territorial signs that Zegers has been materializing since 2017, such as the Umbral Mirador de los Volcanes in Patachoike, (Lonquimay) or the Umbral de Plazoleta Negra, located in the curve 22 of the Road to Farellones. Both projects have been imagined under the auspices of Andes Workshop, a multidisciplinary, collaborative and educational platform (co-created by Zegers together with Grupo Talca), which promotes workshops for teachers and students from all over the world that, among other objectives, has in order to leave an object-sign that opens the territory to new uses and highlights the attributes of the place and its landscapes. In the exhibition that Zegers heads at the Gallo Gallery, on the Lo Contador campus of the UC, a montage of five petrified trunks is presented, which together suggest multiple readings and possibilities: the expansion of the educational environment, the thresholds of transition between the past and the present, geo-poetic observation within a crisis generated by climate change, spatial intervention as an energy accumulator, the relationship of the body with physical and mental space, the correspondence of the body with objects, the terms of exchange emotional and material, gender normativity and also the symbolic limits between these relationships. The free exhibition will remain open until June 21, 2023, from Monday to Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., at Gallo Gallery, located at El Comendador 1916, Providencia. The exhibition will be complemented with talks and open conversations for the coming weeks and which will be announced on Gallo Gallery's social networks and through the Fundación +1000 website.

  • The production of a feature-length documentary about the Chilean architect Cazú Zegers starts
    March 2023

With more than thirty years of experience, various international awards and a career that has focused on the creation of sustainable architectural projects inspired by nature, the life and work of the prominent Chilean architect Cazú Zegers could reach the screen for the first time . And all this from the hand of his daughter, the Chilean actress Clara Larraín, who with her production company Clara Films, has just sealed an agreement with LAP - Centauro Comunicaciones, an important production house in Colombia. It is a feature-length documentary that, through an intimate tour of his work, his work and his conception of architecture, portrays Zegers' work in an unprecedented and profound way. The feature film will be directed by Diego Escobar, who already worked documenting the Soplo house - which Zegers designed for herself - in the web series Una casa es…” where the meaning of home is addressed in depth. This Chilean director has also been behind the short documentary “The Name of Things” (IFFR 2022), the fiction feature “The Longest Day” (SANFIC 2019) and a full-length documentary work titled “The Other City” ( FIC Viña 2019). The feature-length documentary about Cazú Zegers is also the kickoff for a series that explores Latin America through the eyes of its most renowned female architects, something that is already being screened by Clara Films and LAP - Centauro, who signed this production agreement in the 26th of the Malaga Festival. Both production companies are no strangers to each other, as they have already worked on the feature-length documentary by Matías Rojas, “Aullido de Invierno”, which is currently finishing its post-production in Colombia..
