Ethnoingineering Guidelines

Ethnoengineering Guidlines for the incorporation of ethnoengineering in the sectors: road and transportation, education, health and social protection and tourism. The Ethnoengineering Guidelines are intended to promote participatory mechanisms, construction methods and guidelines that promote sustainable development of indigenous peoples and other ethnic groups in Latin America and the Caribbean. For this work, a group of professionals led by Cazú Zegers, updated a version of these guidelines which had been published 18 years ago by Carlos César Perafán and a team from the IDB. Cazú Zegers Architecture managed to create a new dynamic solution to help professionals working with Indigenous communities.

Ethnoingineering

Discipline that values traditional indigenous knowledge as a source of inspiration for carrying out environmentally sustainable engineering practices (Hess & Storbel, 2013). It includes a participatory methodology to address infrastructure projects and their implementation processes to the cultural particularities of the indigenous peoples or beneficiary ethnic groups.
