Ruta del Condor

The Cauca Environmental Economic Program corresponds to an initiative provided by the Cauca Social Intervention Plan that seeks to “Strengthen economic autonomy through the integration of technical and economic efforts that generate strategies to energize life plans and the system of economic development of the Indigenous Peoples of the CRIC.” With this objective in mind, the Cazú Zegers Studio team has prepared an ethnoarchitecture study that fits within the proposal to reinforce spatial planning, at multiple scales, in the tourism sector. The development of this project was possible due to the work that was carried out together with 127 indigenous communities of the CRIC, with the enormous challenge of carrying out the entire project during a global pandemic - Covid19. The entire process was carried out thanks to digital tools and technologies that allowed us to connect virtually to generate the entire collection of inputs. Cazú Zegers later visited the sector in Colombia in 2023 in order to meet face to face the Colombian team members.

90% of the indigenous peoples of Cauca are represented by CRIC, the oldest indigenous association (established in 1971) and organized in Colombia. Cazú Zegers has titled this project under the name Ruta del Condor, generating a link between the Andes mountain range that unites us and where this Andean bird can be sighted and the territorial acupunctures that the architect sought to generate in the Colombian Cauca. This project is still in process of being executed.
